Colourise Festival 2016: eARTh – Pageant

The idea belongs both to time and to place;
for where one is shapes a fundamental relationship
between self and land that, in turn,
leads to a particular way of formulating that relationship
in language [or creActivity]
that corresponds to the matching of self and place.
Such correspondence may reach through time to take into account
how someone else used language [or creActivity] in similar circumstances
and therefore, the forms by which language [or creActivity]
is preserved through time
become the means of contact between persons
responding similarly to place and circumstance.

On warm evenings under a waxing moon participants
’creAct’ contemporary ceremonies –
courteous gestures honouring custodians –
with leisurely walks on Turrbal country,
to re-imagine Brisbane city through Indigenous eyes.
Join us in ’re-dreeaming’ the land as we care for country, care for kin.

Friday 14 October, 5.45 – 8.30pm PAGEANT CEREMONY
South Bank Cultural Precinct, on the green, exterior “The Edge”
Workshop: 5.45 – 7pm
Head and arm band making with Maddie Hodge,
face/body and mask painting with Leah King-Smith,
while media-art screenings and sound touch our senses
of remembrance and survivance, strengthening our ethical
sovereign resolve.

and media-art – celebrating 30 years of creActivity

South Bank Cultural Precinct, on the green, exterior “The Edge”
Assemble for walk and light refreshments.
Walk: 7 – 8.30pm
cruise by the River on the board-walk, wonder across Victoria Bridge,
dance over Brisbane Square, tread triumphantly down George Street
with mobile media-art projections, to a finale at the Gardens.
Care for country care for kin
(You choose: return to South Brisbane via Good Will Bridge or George St.)
